The Outstanding Student Paper Awards (OSPAs) are awarded by the American Geophysical Union to promote, recognize and reward undergraduate, Master’s and PhD students for quality research in the geophysical sciences. It is a great honor for young scientists at the beginning of their careers and the process relies entirely on volunteer judges. Typically the top 3-5% of presenters in each section/focus group are awarded an OSPA.
The FIU Summer Geoscience Experience is a 2-week summer program held at the FIU MMC campus on July 15-19, 22-26 for exploring the science, careers and educational opportunities in the Geosciences. The program will include laboratory exercises and field trips to the National Hurricane Center, Virginia Key, an Everglades Air Boat ride, water treatment facilities, local limestone quarries and other geologically interesting sites.
