USDA MULTICULTURAL SCHOLARS PROGRAM College Scholarship for Bachelors in Environmental Studies With Agroecology Certificate $26,500 college scholarships ($6,500 per year) to pursue a BA or BS in Environmental Studies with a focus on Agroecology. Eligibility: to qualify a student must be a minority of multi-cultural background, starting freshman or recent high school graduates, and have a cumulative GPA of 2.7 and a combined SAT score of 1800 (under the new system).

On June 30, 2011, Associate Professor Assefa M. Melesse was invited by the Minster of the Ministry of Environment of Dominican Republic to give a talk on Climate change and coastal resources impact. He presented a summary of of his Caribbean coastal scenarios (CCS) project, which has been in progress since 2006 in the islands of Jamaica, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.
