On June 30, 2011, Associate Professor Assefa M. Melesse was invited by the Minster of the Ministry of Environment of Dominican Republic to give a talk on Climate change and coastal resources impact. He presented a summary of of his Caribbean coastal scenarios (CCS) project, which has been in progress since 2006 in the islands of Jamaica, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. The next day, he also joined various groups and the Minster for a field day at a restored coastal area where he participated in tree planting. This has helped showcase his work and make the CCS work more visible.
